Day 2: Arusha Hotel- Ngoro Ngoro Crater

After a hearty breakfast, collect your lunch boxes and begin your African adventure through a spectacular game drive. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a half day crater tour. The Ngorongoro Crater is entirely unique as its mammoth walls have created an ecosystem which has managed to remain unscathed by the progress of man, making it one of the most pristine wilderness areas on earth. It is regarded as one of the top natural wonders of the world and has also been declared a World Heritage Site. It is the largest intact crater in the world, being 610 meters deep, 16 kilometers across and covering an area of 540 square kilometers.

On the crater floor, grasslands blend into swamps, lakes, rivers, woodland and mountains – all offering a haven to the area’s wildlife, including the greatest predator population of Africa. While this crater is packed with all kinds of animals (and it is entirely possible to see the Big 5 in a single day here), its pride and joy is that it is the last great wild refuge for black rhino.

After game viewing, enjoy your lunch at the Hippo pool in the crater. Proceed to the Serengeti National Park for another game drive adventure before retiring for the night.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp of your choice

Day 3: Game Viewing at Serengeti National Park

Wake up early and enjoy a fascinating early morning game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Drive back to your camp for breakfast. After breakfast, collect your lunch boxes and embark on another game drive adventure in the Serengeti National park en route to the Tarangire.

The name” Serengeti” comes from Maasai language and appropriately means and “endless plains”. The national park is as big as Northern Ireland, but its ecosystem also includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Maswa Game Reserve and the Maasai Mara Game reserve (in Kenya). It lies between the shores of Lake Victoria in the west, Lake Eyasi in the south, and the Great Rift Valley to the east. A unique combination of diverse habitats allow the park to support more than 30 species of large herbivores and as many as 500 species of birds. Its landscape, originally formed by volcanic activity, has been sculpted by the concerted action of wind, rain and sun. The scenes vary from open grass plains in the south and savanna with scattered acacia trees in the center to hilly wooded grasslands in the north and extensive woodland and back clay plains in the west. Small rivers, lakes and swamps are scattered throughout. Rising in the southeast are the great volcanic massifs and crater of the Ngorongoro Highlands. The Serengeti plains are also host to the dramatic annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and other species of animals indigenous to the area.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp of your choice.

Day 4: Tarangire-Arusha-Zanzibar Beach Hotel

Enjoy an early morning game drive at the Tarangire National Park, falling in love with its untouched wilderness.

The Tarangire National Park offers a wide variety of wildlife. The principal features of the park are flood plains and grassland areas, mainly comprising of various types of acacia trees, and a few scattered baobabs, tamarind and the sausage trees. The Tarangire River, after which the park is named, provides the only permanent source of water for wildlife in the area.

The most common animals found in the park include zebra, wildebeest, lions, leopards, waterbucks, giraffe, elephants, gazelles, impala, gerenuk, lesser kudu and the beautiful fringe-eared Oryx. If you’re really lucky, you might get to spot the tree-climbing python, for which the park is famous, or the greater kudu and the roan antelope, that are rare species in Northern Tanzania. More than 300 species of birds have also been recorded in the Park.

After breakfast, embark on a drive to Arusha city. One of our  Randu Safaris representatives will you at Arusha Airport and de-brief you about the safari.
