Day 1: Nairobi Kenya-Amboseli (250km-Approx.4hrs)

Your expert driver/guide from Randu Kenya Safaris will pick you up at 7:00 am from your Nairobi hotel, residence or airport for the drive along the Nairobi/Mombasa Highway. Along our route, we’ll enjoy the early morning African savanna with possible sightings of Maasai villagers herding their cattle.

Amboseli National Park is not a large park but is still considered the land of the giants. These giants are the immense herds of elephants that inhabit its plains. Amboseli is famous for being the best spot in Africa for viewing free-ranging elephants up close. Their numbers are so concentrated here you’re guaranteed sightings of the magnificent creatures.

At Amboseli, we’ll enjoy  the first of our game drives. You won’t have to look hard for the park’s signature landmark – renowned Mt. Kilimanjaro – the tallest peak in Africa. The great massif will frame your views looking south making a picturesque backdrop for the wildlife we’ll encounter.

You’ll see plenty of elephants, but you’ll also be looking for wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and gazelle. And there’s a good chance of spotting cheetah and lion. The park is not large, which only increases our chances of coming face to face with an exciting array of wildlife.

Dinner and Overnight at the lodge or camp of your choice.

Day 2 : Amboseli National Park Full day

We’ll be up early for our first game drive followed by breakfast. Then onto a mid-morning game drive. This will be our pattern for the day – eat, relax, go on a game drive. Repeat. Not a bad way to appreciate the wonders of this rich and diverse park.

And if you wish to be even more active – less relaxing time, more game drives – just ask your guide and he will make it happen. At Natural World our goal to create the best safari experience for you.

On your game drives through the park, you may notice a unique pyramid-shaped location – this is Observation Hill, the best elevation for vistas of Amboseli. At the summit, you’ll be able to take in the park’s plains, lakes and stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

This is an ideal place to watch the elephants, buffalo and hippo foraging in the marshes below. From here you’ll also enjoy the bright diversity of birdlife in the wetlands. Look for pelican, goose, kingfisher and egret.

Our visit here at Amboseli also provides an opportunity to meet some of the indigenous people of the area. If you’d like you can take an optional visit to a local Masai village to learn about their lifestyle and culture. Just ask your guide.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp of your choice.

Day 3: Amboseli-Emali Train Station to Mombasa Hotels (100km-Approx.1.5hrs)

We’ll enjoy an early safari breakfast and set out for a short final game drive as we exit park. We have seen much of this popular park, its diverse wildlife environments and a great display of animals. You can consider yourself an experienced safari-goer!

(please note that an early short exit game viewing drive is only possible if staying in lodges / tented camps inside the park )

As we exit the park areas on the way to the train station at Emali, you’ll be seeing your last views of Amboseli. However, on your upcoming train journey, you’ll be passing through both Tsavo West and Tsavo East for more park vistas and possibly wildlife viewing.

Your driver/guide will bring you to the train station at Emali. There, he’ll assist you with tickets and transfer to the Madaraka Express, the new high-speed train to Mombasa and the coast.

Your first-class ticket is included with the tour, so enjoy the comfort of your air-conditioned compartment and reclining seat. The train’s route is positioned higher than the roadway and offers an elevated view of the parks. And with its large windows you’ll enjoy wonderful vistas of the passing landscapes.
